In July 2006, the U.S. Air Force selected Actus Lend Lease as its partner to develop, build, renovate, finance, and maintain 1,838 homes sprawled across two southwestern states. Situated on 10,633 acres of Tucson’s Rincon Valley, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is host to the 12th Air Force headquarters and several other units. Located just over 300 miles away in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Holloman Air Force Base is home to the 49th Fighter Wing and provides support to German Air Force training operations and is home of the world’s longest (50,788 feet or almost 10 miles) and fastest (approaching 10,000 feet per second, or Mach 9) test track.
These premier Air Force Bases will boast some of the military’s most contemporary homes and communities. Nestled among the desert terrain, neighborhoods will include pedestrian friendly streets, spacious community centers, modern playgrounds and other amenities focused on easing the lives of military Families. New homes feature spacious kitchen with state-of-the-art ENERGY STARŪ appliances, home office space with technology niches, covered porches for integrated indoor/outdoor living and roomy master bedroom suites. Plans also include extensive interior and exterior renovations of existing homes to enhance the functionality and livability of them.
The cornerstone of the Actus Lend Lease vision is built on the development of first-rate homes that reduce resident concerns. In addition to incorporating the most modern and efficient construction techniques and processes, environmental sustainability is an element which will be incorporated into every aspect of the design. At Davis-Monthan over 40,000 tons of demolished material has been recycled and will be reused as fill for the new homes and roads being built. Likewise, all new home development for Soaring Heights will meet ENERGY STARŪ standards, resulting in 20-30 percent greater energy efficiency than a standard home. Once completed, these high- quality, modern homes will serve as a recruiting and retention tool, attracting and retaining talented individuals to the Air Force.
