Actus Lend Lease partnered with the Department of the Navy for the development, financing, construction and management of the residential communities that comprise Tri-Command Military Housing. These new and renovated homes, with associated amenities, are located in Beaufort and Parris Island, South Carolina.
Reflecting the area’s rich culture and traditions, the military communities at Beaufort/Parris Island are designed in the architectural vernacular of the Low Country. With nearly 1,600 homes, four community centers, recreational walking trails and bicycle paths, and an array of parks and open space, the project is an excellent example of a lifestyle approach to community development with an emphasis on sustainable design.
Actus Lend Lease began a revolutionary program within these two communities by recycling entire homes scheduled for demolition and offering them instead to non-profit organizations in the surrounding community. More than 50 homes have been targeted for recycling, providing a home ownership opportunity to qualified low- and moderate-income families. Not only was Actus Lend Lease able to help meet the area’s pressing need for affordable housing, we also boosted returns by eliminating demolition and disposal costs with no burden to the project.
Actus Lend Lease has a long history of integrating sustainable solutions into our development projects. The Tri-Command Military Housing project serves as just one example of Actus Lend Lease’s ability to meet the needs of clients while making a positive and substantial impact on the communities in which we operate.
