More To Celebrate At Army Hawaii Family Housings’ Simpson Wisser Neighborhood
After welcoming Families into homes at Army Hawaii Family Housing’s (AHFH) new Simpson Wisser neighborhood at Ft. Shafter last month, AHFH received word from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that the LEED for Neighborhood Development pilot received Stage 2 Certification. The partnership can now refer to the neighborhood as a LEED Certified Plan.
According to the USGBC, the 41 points awarded is an “impressive accomplishment.” An extra point was received through the planned installation of street lighting, which is 30 percent more efficient versus the program’s minimum requirement of 15 percent.
If the project is built according to plan, it will be able to achieve Stage 3 Certification.
Certification represents a tremendous amount of work by development, design, construction and subcontractor teams, as well as a commitment from the AHFH partnership. Congratulations to everyone for achieving Stage 2 Certification!
